My name Justin Fisher, I am 19 years of age and currently a junior at Eastern Michigan University with a grade point average of 2.8 and rising. My major is marketing with dreams of taking a marketing degree and becoming a sports marketer. With this scholarship I will be able to purchase all of my texts books, study tools and equipment. I will also be able to purchase a laptop/desktop of my own which is rapidly become a college student necessity, along with a printer/fax/copier if need be. This scholarship to me however would carry a lot more meaning and value then just to purchase of all of my school supplies which I direly need, to me it would be a major and much needed help in my quest for higher learning, my degree and success in my life. It would give me the ability to fully direct all of my attention and energy into achieving my goal in raising my g.p.a. and overall getting my degree. I would greatly appreciate this blessing and without question be put to good use.

| My Name is Cynyon Renee Dawn; I am a sophomore at Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge Louisiana, from Dallas, Texas. I graduated from David W. Carter High school with honors. Even though my GPA for my freshman year was a 2.0, I know I could have done better , But I had so many distractions because I had to start working to help out my mother. I know attending college will put me on the road of achieving greatness and want to experiencing life firsthand. Furthermore, it is difficult, and I know it’s double hard on my mother because she wants me to follow my aspirations and see them through; she does not have the resources to make this happen, and I see the hurt in her eyes sometimes. My mother taught us to be sincere in asking for help when we really needed it. This is a major step for me, but I just wanted to come to school so bad, I know whatever my mother can do for me she will work hard in doing so. What made my heart melt the most, was when my mother said to me “I am so proud of you baby, I always knew you was going to change everything”. I then felt like I was the big dog on campus because I am making my mother proud. My mother works in a hot mail room on her feet sorting mail all day. My mother wanted to attend college to be a doctor but when I came into this world she stopped her dreams to make mine come true. My mother told me I am influencing her to get back in school, so she then can pursue her happiness and her dreams. After I receive my degree, I want to go back to the community and teach them and influence them to stay on the right track. Education is the key to success. I want to be a set example for the children. Also to start a mentor center in the community and encourage young people to stay strong and do not give up.

| Hi, my name is Derome Castille Im a native of Los Angeles, me and my little brother grew up in a group home. My mother was on drugs really bad, we never knew who our father was. I met Omar playing ball in the park when I was 13, that was the best day of my life me and my little brother stayed with him all the time. He would pick us up all the time, teach us about life, come to our games, buy us cloths, make sure we had a christmas every year and other kids in the group home. I made him proud the day I graduated from Hawthorne High with a 3.0 grade point average, sometimes i don't know if i did it for him or myself, but I'm not about to let him down now, so im heading to SCCC this fall to become a great businessman like him, thank you for your support! |

| The reason I need scholarship funds is so I can afford to go to college. Without scholarship funding, even though my mother and father work very hard, that alone would not nearly be enough to afford the high cost of education. I am trying to save money for college but I cannot keep pace with yearly increases of tuition, books, room and board, lab fees, and other related cost associated with going to college. |
